Complimentary chips and salsa were warm and fresh. Ordered the T-bone Steak Mexicano and a Diet Coke. It was very tender and tasted good. Overall, a good meal that came to only 20.
Being a Texas native, trust me when I say there is no better Mexican food I have found in all of Topeka. There are other really good Mexican places in Topeka. Don't get me wrong, but El Mezcal is the greatest amongst the great. Being able to get cactus as a side or addition is the major selling point. While most people won't go for that, it's an amazing compliment to any taco or fajitas, a bit of charing, and an ocra like flavor, make cactus ideal for balancing out more fatty meats or even enhancing spices flavors. Listen, I'm just trying to sell you on getting cactus as a side with your next order of El Pastor, if you regret it, I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me. But even if you don't, I promise you, you'll be better for having tried and found out!
This is our go to Mexican restaurant in Topeka. We go here at minimum monthly. The chips and queso are the gold standard. The Burrito Patron, fajitas, and street tacos are my favorites. The wait staff is awesome, some have been there for years. I have dined in, gotten take out, and catered events with them. For a fair and balanced review I have never gotten desert here.
I wish I could tell you about more than just the fajita's, but it's all I've ever had. I've watched friends enjoy everything they've ordered. However the Fajita's are epic
Top notch service. Alex was my server. He was exceptionally kind. I really enjoyed how well he took care of me and my son as we ate there. He was exceptionally personable, and exceptionally kind. I highly recommend this place not only because of the food because of the service. I will certainly return. I cannot say enough good things about our server Alex. The guy really deserves a raise. He’s an exceptional server.
This was my 2nd time coming late at night. Everything is cooked to order, the prices are reasonable. But the flavor? The flavors are robust and make you eat more than you should! I'm definitely gonna be a forever customer. 10/10 definitely worth a try!
